I want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible team we have at Cambridge East School. While many schools are still navigating how to teach through an Inquiry Lens and incorporate Learning Progression indicators into their curriculum, our staff have been doing this for years with dedication and expertise.

Throughout Term 1, our team has worked hard to refine and develop new indicators for each year group, ensuring they align with the latest curriculum changes and expectations. Their commitment to this process is a testament to their professionalism and passion for delivering the best possible learning experiences for our students.

The next step in this journey is understanding how these new Learning Progressions will shape our Mid-Year Reporting. This includes refining the statements we use to communicate with parents and whānau about their child’s progress—whether they are working towards, working within, or mastering their year group’s expectations and applying their new skills.

In addition, while the final group of our Phase One teachers is completing training in BSLA (Better Start Literacy Approach), our Learning Assistants are also undertaking professional development. They are currently engaged in a new Oral Language programme, led by our Learning Support Coordinator, to further support early literacy development among our learners.

With all of this in mind, I want to pause and express my sincere gratitude to our Teaching and Learning team. Their hard work, commitment, and ongoing pursuit of excellence make a real difference in the lives of our students. Thank you for everything you do!

Koru 1

Ellie Joyce - Ellie, you have shown responsibility for your learning by making steps to achieve your personal goal of completing some of your independent learning tasks. You should be very proud of yourself. Ka pai to mahi. Keep aiming high.
Cason Bartz - Cason, you consistently demonstrate our school motto 'Always My Best' when completing any learning task. You work diligently to complete all independent learning on time, resulting in some pleasing progress, particularly in Reading. Tino pai, Cason!

Mac Moore - Mac, you are showing great dedication in your work, especially in your reading and writing. Your hard work and determination are truly impressive, and it's wonderful to see your progress. Keep up the fantastic effort—you should be very proud of yourself!
Lennon Shiwa-McHale - Lennon, you are a wonderful example of dedication and hard work by mastering all your times tables and demonstrating outstanding mathematical skills in class. Your expertise in mathematics truly stands out, and I am incredibly proud of you. Keep it up!

Koru 3

Wesley Rubin - Wesley, you have been showing hard work and dedication to ensuring you get your independent tasks completed and your worksheets GLUED in. You are sharing your creative ideas with your peers and actively engage in collaborative learning in all subjects. Well done!
Nico Shaw - You are showing commitment to your learning goals and are up holding our class Tikanga in your daily actions. You are making conscious efforts in keeping your work area tidy, committed to your tutorials and independent tasks and cleaning up at the end of the day. I couldn't ask for more - well done!

Finley Robertson - You are a kind, caring, and supportive member of our classroom. You are always willing to help others with their learning, patiently explaining tasks to those who need assistance. Thank you, Finley!
