Over the holidays, we completed some re-roofing projects and installed two new Air Conditioning Units in Rooms 15 and 16. The Ministry has now signed off on our vital infrastructure work, which means we can now focus on the refurbishments of Rooms 12, 13, and 14, which are well overdue. As always, the budgets for these types of projects are tight, so we look forward to working with the architect and project manager to determine what is within our budget. We would like to have this project underway next year and completed by the beginning of Term 3, as we will need all our spaces for our New Entrant start-up rooms.
What impact will this project have on our current classrooms? Rooms 12, 13 and 14 house our Year 2 team from Timatanga, we will need to move them to Rooms 15 and 16 and use one of the spaces over in Puna while the refurbishment is taking place. They will then relocate once the project is complete.
We are incredibly fortunate to have such an active and supportive Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) within our school. Their generous donations often fill the gaps that our Operational Funding cannot cover, providing us with devices, extra teaching and learning programmes, and resources. We are deeply grateful for their time, efforts, and contributions, which significantly enhance our school's learning environment.
One of the fundraising projects they are currently working on, is a new surface (turf) for the basketball area. The new Basketball hoop (also funded by the PTA) has been a real hit with our students and the community. The PTA is looking to resurface this area to be multipurpose, which means it will have a half-court basketball area. The turf installers are also able to include a mini-hockey field, including circle areas, for our hockey players to be able to practice on.
We look forward to raising the last of the funds to see this come to fruition. A big thank you once again to the PTA for their efforts to get this project to this point, and a big thank you to the Eastside Social Club, a team of parents and community members who run these events on behalf of the PTA, for their recent efforts with the Bowling Social Event, which was a real hit for those who attended.
Please continue to support our PTA in its fundraising efforts. Your donations certainly go a long way toward helping our school and, ultimately, our learners!
