Oak Trees Update
A leading arborist within New Zealand who has been monitoring our Oak trees has confirmed this afternoon that the outside Oak tree on Bowen Street "is showing every indication of imminent failure.” "The canopy
between the two trees has separated, indicating that the trees have moved apart quite considerably. The tensile root of the roadside oak has cracked across the tension face and is again indicative of root plate failure. The trunk is also showing tensile cracks which indicate additional strain upon the tree.
This combination of structural defects, and particularly the canopy separation, are clear indicators of a tree commencing to fail.”
In light of this
information we have immediately closed the Senior playground and parking on Bowen Street. A traffic management team will be in place early tomorrow (Thursday 24th) morning with the crew from Groundzone on site from 8am to begin the removal process of the trees.
Thank you for your understanding and helping with this issue, we understand this has happened earlier than expected but
safety of our community has to come first and foremost.
To ensure minimal disruption, please use Williams Street as your point of drop off and pick up as Bowen will be closed to traffic while this process takes place. We apologies for the inconvenience this is going to cause but require everyone's patience while we work through this. While we will not have access to this area of the school, school operations will continue.

Out of Zone Enrolments for 2016
As you are probably aware, our school continues to experience growth, as does Cambridge. In terms of "Out of Zone” enrolments the Board is only in a position to accept those siblings of current students who are out of zone. If you have a child starting in 2016 and you are currently out of zone, please let the office know as soon as possible by writing a quick letter requesting an "Out of Zone” enrolment. All other "Out of Zone” enrolments will be dealt with on a case by case basis. This information will be published next month in the local paper.
If you are in our Home Zone, we welcome all new enrolments, please let the office know when your child is turning 5 so we can send out relevant information at the appropriate time and it certainly helps us in terms of planning the opening of our New Entrant Classrooms.

Redevelopment Plans - Innovative Learning Environment
One of the big things the school and Board are working on is the redevelopment of Block A which includes Rooms 6-9. This area will be redeveloped into an Innovative Learning Environment/Space which includes Breakout Areas to aid group work within the classroom settings. As part of this plan, our teaching staff
have been looking at Modern Learning Practices. We have also been looking at how we can change the way we go about our everyday business to further engage, and meet the needs of all learners with a particular focus on Innovative Space.
