Touch Rugby - Friday 20th November

Touch has been cancelled tonight red Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Term 4 Update

This Term is busy with the different activities that will take place. We have Team 12 "Come Fly with Us” performance next week where they will showcase their learning in relation to how Energy and Change affects animals around the world. We invite parents, caregivers and other community and family members to come along to this performance. We have 2 performances, Wednesday 28th October at 11am and Thursday 29th October at 6pm. We are limited in the number of people we can seat in the School Hall so booking tickets for this will be essential. Tickets can be reserved via the notice that went home, please pop into the office if you have misplaced your copy.

Week 4 will be our annual Book Week which coincides with the Book Fair being displayed in our Hall during this time. We finish the week with a Book Parade on Friday 6th November where we encourage our learners to dress up as their favourite book character. The parade happens in the first block of the day and we would love our parents/caregivers to come along and join in.
Our wonderful PTA have scheduled our final Disco for 2015. This will take place on Friday 13th November and I’m sure you can see the theme that might be coming with that one ;-) Our Disco’s have been well supported and our students have had a lot of fun at these events over the course of the year. Thanks PTA!

Term 4 sees our Physical Education programme focus on Athletics. Team 34 and 56 will be involved in competitive events on Thursday 19th November with our school being represented at the local Interschool event on Friday 27th November. Team 12 will be running their display/demo on Wednesday 25th November which will start in the morning and followed by a shared Picnic at Lunchtime to finish. Please note these dates in your diary, we would love for parents and caregivers to come down and support our students during these events.

Term 4 is also the finally reporting to parents/caregivers time of year. Reports, all going to plan, are due to go home on Friday 27th November. We will be holding our annual Celebration of Learning Evening on 2nd December where our students will be sharing their Learning Journey on this afternoon/evening and they will be using their Portfolios to help this process.

In Week 9 this Term we have added a new event. This is a Performing Arts Celebration to be held on Tuesday 8th December. We are not 100% sure how this event will run yet but we want to provide a chance for our Kapa Haka, Choirs, Instrument groups, Hip Hop and Jump Jam crews to showcase their talents by sharing a few items each. It’s not often do we get the chance to see all our amazingly talented students/groups perform. They have all been working hard throughout the year and we want a chance for them to share with the wider community. This will be an early evening event to give people a chance to get home from work.
Please note that our last day this year is Tuesday 15th December. We will finish with our traditional end of year Assembly in the Hall on this morning. We will be aiming for a 12 noon finish on this day.

Out of Zone Enrolments for 2016

As you are probably aware, our school continues to experience growth, as does Cambridge.  In terms of "Out of Zone” enrolments the Board is only in a position to accept those siblings of current students who are out of zone.  If you have a child starting in 2016 and you are currently out of zone, please let the office know as soon as possible by writing a quick letter requesting an "Out of Zone” enrolment.  All other "Out of Zone” enrolments will be dealt with on a case by case basis.  This information will be published next month in the local paper.

If you are in our Home Zone, we welcome all new enrolments, please let the office know when your child is turning 5 so we can send out relevant information at the appropriate time and it certainly helps us in terms of planning the opening of our New Entrant Classrooms.

Redevelopment Plans - Innovative Learning Environment

One of the big things the school and Board are working on is the redevelopment of Block A which includes Rooms 6-9.  This area will be redeveloped into an Innovative Learning Environment/Space which includes Breakout Areas to aid group work within the classroom settings.  As part of this plan, our teaching staff have been looking at Modern Learning Practices. We have also been looking at how we can change the way we go about our everyday business to further engage, and meet the needs of all learners with a particular focus on Innovative Space.

ERO's findings about the school (click here to download the full report)

Below is one of the statements from ERO's latest visit to our school.  If you would like to download and read the full report, please click on the link above.

Students learn in a respectful and supportive educational environment where they are well supported by teachers who are committed to their wellbeing and learning. Students, including those needing additional support, engage positively in all areas of the curriculum, and make very good progress as they move through the school.

ERO is likely to carry out the next review in three years.

 Before School Care

Before School Care is now up and running from 7.30am - 8.30am every school day.  This is run out of the After School Care Room with Mrs Shortland overseeing the programme.  This will also include a breakfast club.

Please ring and book through the school office if you require this service, we will need signed forms before your child(ren) are able to attend.  The cost will be calculated in blocks of either 30 minutes ($2.50) or 1 hour ($5), and billed in the same way as After School Care.

Please note that the school is not open to students until 8.30am every morning. We offer this service due to the number of students arriving earlier and earlier to school and in response to parental requests.  Please respect the 8.30am timing for the school to be open.

Facebook Page

The school now has a Facebook page to help keep parents and caregivers in the loop.  Please visit our Facebook page and like us, as this will mean you will receive our latest posts automatically.  It is an effective way of communicating quickly with our community.
